Weaver statement on POTUS visit
SPRINGFIELD, IL – State Sen. Chuck Weaver (R-Peoria) offered the following comments on Feb. 10 after the President of the United States delivered comments to a joint session of the Illinois General Assembly.
“The President mentioned his personal frustration with his inability to stop political polarization in America. That is a huge task. While we may disagree on fundamental principles, whether in Springfield or Washington, D.C., we must work together to solve the problems in our state and nation,” Weaver said. “The President did stress the need to improve the legislative remap process, and I hope his words encourage Speaker Michael Madigan to come to the table to end the budget impasse.”
