Weaver statement on $3.1 billion spending measure
SPRINGFIELD, IL – State Sen. Chuck Weaver (R-Peoria) offered the following comments on Dec. 7, after the Illinois Senate passed a $3.1 billion spending plan which funds critical state and local government functions.
“I want to remain optimistic about the budget situation, but today’s passage of SB 2039 will only allow a small number of critical government services to continue. This is one more step – but an important step towards achieving a balanced budget,” Weaver said. “I stand ready to work with my legislative colleagues to pass a balanced budget, which helps rein in 12 years of mismanagement by the previous administrations and enacts meaningful reforms to make Illinois more competitive.”
