PEORIA, IL – Hello! I am Chuck Weaver and I have the honor of serving as your State Senator after U.S. Congressman Darin LaHood was elected. I took the Oath of Office on October 8 and have been working hard to better know the people who live in the 37th Senate District. For those of you outside the Peoria area, my family and I reside on the north side of the city.
At age 14, I became active in agriculture with the purchase of my first Angus heifer in 1972. Her first calf won the American Angus Breeders Futurity in 1974 in Louisville, Kentucky. I would like to say I was a good businessman at that time, but the reality is I got lucky. That first business taught me about taking risk and about entrepreneurship. I have been fascinated ever since about starting businesses and helping young entrepreneurs.
Since that time, and now for the last 30 years with Laurie as my partner, we have been active in job creation and economic development in west central Illinois. We have been very fortunate and as a result have been involved in one way or another in more than 50 start-up or existing businesses. Our family has also been involved in a number of local philanthropic efforts.
In recent months, I have made dozens of visits to the 10 counties that make up the 37th District. I will continue to travel throughout the district as I get to know the very diverse population, which stretches from Aledo to Amboy, Geneseo to Galesburg, Brimfield to New Bedford and all points in-between.
The 37th District is a great place to live and raise a family and I will focus my efforts on keeping Illinois families here with stronger economic opportunities. We have to strengthen our state by raising our profile to encourage more families to relocate to the Land of Lincoln.
Our state is strong and we will grow stronger with sound leadership and conservative principles, which lead our economic rebirth. I am firm believer in talking about what is right with Illinois and trying to avoid looking too negatively at the past. Our state has a lot going for it and together Illinois will return to its national prominence.
I am excited about this opportunity to represent west central Illinois as your state senator. I have always maintained an “open door” policy and look forward to meeting the constituents. Please do not hesitate to contact one of our offices in Peoria, Galesburg, Princeton or Springfield’s Capitol. I would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and best wishes for the upcoming holiday season.
