UPDATE: Governor acts to extend state tax filing deadline
Governor J.B. Pritzker announced Wednesday afternoon (March 25) that the state is extending the income tax filing and payment deadline by three months, from April 15 to July 15.
The Department of Revenue (IDOR) will continue to process tax refunds for those filing ahead of the new deadline.

By far one of the biggest questions we have been getting at the District office is if the Illinois Department of Revenue is changing its filing deadlines to match the IRS.
Until this decision late Wednesday afternoon, we have had no choice but to encourage constituents to attempt to file on time.
Our Republican Senate Caucus sent a letter to the Governor Wednesday (March 25), encouraging him to act to change the Illinois tax filing deadlines to match the Federal filing deadlines, which have been extended to July 15.
