Senator Weaver statement on special session

Peoria- State Senator Chuck Weaver (R-Peoria) released the following statement after Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner called for a special legislative session:

“I am pleased the Governor has called us into continuous session for the last 10 days of June. I see this as our best opportunity to get the budget impasse behind us. My fellow Republicans have presented ‘The Capitol Compromise’ of multiple bills based on the progress made by Senate Republicans and Democrats before negotiations broke down in May.  I believe both sides understand the need for change and are prepared to work in good faith to pass a balanced budget, reform our broken government, and fix our terrible jobs climate. I am optimistic that our Democrat colleagues are ready to vote on real compromises on tough issues. We have to come together for the long term health of the families of Illinois.”
