A Peoria native, Chuck Weaver grew up on his family cattle farm and graduated from Dunlap High School and Bradley University, along with earning his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law. Chuck was an “At-Large” Member of the Peoria City Council before joining the Illinois Senate in 2015.
Chuck is the Minority Spokesperson for the Senate Education Committee. He also serves as a member on the Commerce and Economic Development, Telecommunications & Info Technology, Insurance, Licensed Activities & Pensions, and Labor committees. Additionally, he serves on the Committee of the Whole.
Previously, Chuck led Weaver Enterprises, a 500-employee restaurant business, for two decades, before turning his attention to investments that emphasize job creation and developing commercial and residential real estate. Chuck has been an active investor or operating partner in over 50 LLCs in the Peoria area.
Chuck uses his Senate salary to fund Leaders Change Illinois, which helps provide grants to local leaders who are launching new ideas to help improve the area. He was the founding president of Central Illinois Angels, which has so far invested more than $12 million in local startups.
Chuck and his wife, Laurie, are also very active in a number of local charities and charitable events, including hosting several large-scale fundraisers on their family farm. They are the proud parents of three children and two grandchildren, and have attended the Northwoods Community Church since its inception.
