|| A Peoria native, Chuck Weaver grew up on his family farm and spent his youth actively involved in the family Angus-cattle operation. Chuck is a graduate of Dunlap High School and Bradley University. He obtained his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law. Most recently, Chuck was an “At-Large” Member of the Peoria City Council, following his 2011 election.
He practiced law until 1985 with the law firm of Westervelt, Johnson, Nicoll and Keller. Later in 1985, Chuck started working for Weaver Enterprises as the Director of Operations. He supervised the company’s 500 employees and multiple Kentucky Fried Chicken franchises. In 1992, he took over as President of Weaver Enterprises.
Most recently, he has turned his attention to job creation, with an emphasis on growing commercial and real estate development throughout central Illinois. In 2005, Chuck was instrumental in facilitating the annexation of the 700 - acre Growth Cell 1A into the City of Peoria. Since the annexation, nearly $250 million in investment and scores of jobs have been created. He has been active as an investor or operating partner in nearly 50 LLC’s in the Peoria area, focusing on creating job opportunities for Illinoisans.
Senator Weaver is a founding member of the Focus Forward CI and a current member of the Central Illinois CEO Council and Economic Development Council of Central Illinois. He is founding chairman of the Central Illinois Angels, an organization of private investors who have invested $8 million in local start-up companies, with more than 70% of these investments in Peoria. In 2012, Chuck established Leaders Change Peoria, donating his monthly City Council salary to local leaders who are launching new ideas to improve the city.
He serves on, or has served on, a number of local, regional, and national “for profit” and “not-for profit” boards of directors including: Kentucky Fried Chicken Franchisee Association (Past President); Board of Regents for “YUM Brands University” (KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut); and Young Life Heartland Regional Committee (Immediate Past President).
Chuck and his wife, Laurie, are enthusiastic fundraisers for a number of central Illinois youth charities including: Hult Lobster Boil, Easter Seals Wine CIRT Black and Blue Ball. Children’s Home Cattle Auction and NasCalf competition. Chuck was named the Boys Scouts of America, Boyce Council, 2014 Distinguished Citizen Award, having raised over $525,000 for the Boy Scouts.
Senator Weaver is an avid horseman, hunter and skier. He and Laurie are the proud parents of Jesse, Travis, Annie and her husband Mark Bell. The Weavers welcomed their first grandson, Will Bell, in April 2015. They have attended the Northwoods Community Church for more than 20 years.
